In BETA: Street Football Australia
Creating a governing body for any sport is a monstrously difficult task. Questions such as: What are the costs? Who do I get involved? Do Street Footballers even want this? What will this look like? Is it Sustainable? These questions all come up, and they're extremely important to make sure you get them right.
I guess now is the time to announce that we're throwing our hat in the ring by launching our genuine attempt; STREET FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA!
Early Stages
Before you hype up and go nut, please give me a second to explain what this all mean, and what exactly we're cooking up. So Street Football Australia handles a circuit of monthly 3x3 tournaments. We're starting in Sydney, on a rooftop, as all the best street matches have to be played on a rooftop. These 3x3 tournaments lead to an overall ranking system for the crews in the city based on how they perform in these events. As this is early, we have only hosted 2 events, but they have been mightily successful.
Why in Beta?
This is really simple. I believe too many people want to post about their projects from the absolute moment they think about them, they do one or two events, get people hyped, and then they disappoint since they can't keep it all going. They haven't given themselves time to improve and generate genuinely interesting and higher quality content, leading to their project looking unprofessional and a flash in the pan. I don't want that. Street Football Australia will be launched on socials after 4 or 5 months of successful events, when they look and feel professional, once we have a website for the federation, and once we can provide value for the crews who have trusted us and have involved themselves in our ecosystem. So to be quick, we're in beta stage because we aren't at the quality level we need to be before releasing to the general public through social media.
Next Stages
We keep going. That's the next step. We'll make our events better one manageable increment at a time. That's it, we just keep it moving forward.
More info coming soon. I promise.
