2026 | The Year of Street Football in Australia
TLDR; 2026 will see the explosion of opportunities offered by STREET FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA to all Street Footballers in Australia. 2 World Cups (7v7 & 3x3), 12 Australian based 3x3 Tournaments, 6 Australian based 1x1 Tournaments, and the inclusion of Futsal Sydney into the ecosystem. This is our year!

2025 was the first step in building out an idea. Street Football is pivotal to the growth of footballers in any nation worldwide, but here in Australia not only is it ultra rare to find anyone who wants to play Street Football, you also have no guidance or idea on how to go about it. So we launched STREET FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA to solve that problem for all of us. 9 local tournaments in 2025 for 3x3 and 1x1, as well as 2 World Cups for 7v7 and 3x3 respectively. What a year, but believe me that's only the beginning, 2026 will be a mega step forward.

3X3 | WHAT TO EXPECT

First off, it's 1 3x3 tournament a month, no exceptions. These tournaments will be pivotal in selecting the national team who are given the opportunity to represent Australia at the 3x3 World Cup in 2026, all expenses covered. No longer is it the best team that is selected, MVPs at our tournaments are given the opportunity they deserve. "Turn up" and you'll be in the running. As well as team rankings, we'll also have MVP rankings, so you can follow your journey the whole way. Just don't be too selfish on court, that's one way to drop down the rankings.

7V7 | WHAT'S NEXT

2025 saw Australia's first ever inclusion in a 7v7 World Cup, and us Street Footballers took that team under our wing and made it our own. It's now the exclusive path for Street Footballers, no need for 11v11 politics to get to the top, you can verse footballing powerhouses such as Brazil's Corinthians through our pathways. 2026 will be a step up again, we will be hosting a 7v7 Oceania tournament here in Australia as well as taking a squad to Europe for the 2026 World Cup & Club World Cup.

1X1 | GROWTH MAP

Launching right at the end of 2025, 1x1 was a major hit and it has given us the confidence to bring it a step forward in 2026. Bi-monthly tournaments are going to be the norm. More will come from there, stay tuned for major updates.

FUTSAL | DONE RIGHT

We will be incorporating FUTSAL SYDNEY into our ecosystem this year, opening the door for Street Footballers to compete at elite level futsal.

This is the year of looking forward. 2025 is over, 2026 is our time.

What makes 2026 the breakthrough year for Australian street football?
treet Football Australia's 2026 calendar includes 2 World Cups (7v7 and 3x3), 12 Australian based 3x3 tournaments (one per month, no exceptions), and 6 1x1 tournaments run bi-monthly. The year also features Futsal Sydney's integration into the SFA ecosystem, opening a direct path for street footballers to compete at elite futsal level. 2025 laid the groundwork with 9 local tournaments and 2 World Cups; 2026 is positioned as the explosion year.
How does Street Football Australia select its national 3x3 team for the World Cup?
Street Football Australia selects its national 3x3 team based on MVP performances at monthly SFA tournaments rather than pre-selecting a best team. Tournament MVPs are given the opportunity they deserve: 'Turn up and you'll be in the running.' All expenses are covered for the selected national team. Player and team rankings are maintained, with individual MVP rankings tracking each athlete's journey — but overly selfish play causes ranking drops, incentivising team oriented performance.
What is Street Football Australia's 7v7 pathway and how does it differ from traditional football?
Street Football Australia's 7v7 pathway is an exclusive, politics free route for street footballers to represent Australia at international level, bypassing traditional 11-a-side structures. Australia debuted in a 7v7 World Cup in 2025, facing top level international competition including Brazil's Corinthians. 2026 plans include hosting a 7v7 Oceania tournament in Australia and sending a squad to Europe for the 2026 World Cup and Club World Cup.
How did Street Football Australia perform in 2025 before the 2026 expansion?
In 2025, Street Football Australia ran 9 local tournaments across 3x3 and 1x1 formats and participated in 2 World Cups (7v7 and 3x3). The 1x1 format launched at the end of 2025 and was described as a major success. Sydney Street Crew ended 2025 as the runaway victor of SFA's first yearly ranking system and made a deep run at the 2025 3x3 World Cup in Qingdao, China. This foundation set the stage for the expanded 2026 calendar.
How does the 2026 calendar strengthen the GONE20 ecosystem's position?
he 2026 calendar strengthens every GONE20 pillar simultaneously. Street Football Australia's expanded tournament schedule produces more competitive data for official rankings. Sydney Street Crew have more opportunities to demonstrate dominance and develop talent through SSC Juniors. Contraband at contraband.pro has a full year of monthly events to document, building the sport's institutional media record. And the Streetball animated series at streetball.live gains a year's worth of real competitive outcomes — MVP journeys, World Cup campaigns, and club ranking battles — to draw from for authentic narrative material.
